Dr. Feras Redha of Al Hassan honored by Ministry of Health (17 Jun 2013)
Dr. Feras Mohammed Redha, the Administration Head of Al Hassan Group of Companies, is one of the many proud donors who received the honors from the Ministry of Health in a function held recently as part of the Ministry of Health’s (MoH) World Blood Donor Day celebrations, where the Department of Blood Services (DBS) honored 185 donors, besides government and private institutions in Muscat.
The event, the sixth year in a row, was conducted to honor blood donors - individuals as well as various stakeholders for their selfless services rendered for the successful conduct of blood donation campaigns. A mobile blood bank was also launched on the occasion.
Al Hassan, as part of its relentless efforts to promote and encourage the need of donating the blood amongst the mass, used to organize blood donation camps at regular intervals in their office premises as well as the Plant Workshops and factories. On the occasion, Hamed Marhoon al Siyabi, head of blood donors' affairs at DBS said, "Donating blood regularly is a very noble gesture which creates a culture of giving in a society. Celebrating the World Blood Donor Day represents the message of donors across the world. We urge people to donate blood as it helps patients in need and victims of road accidents."
Speaking on behalf of donors, Zawan Salim al Qattami, said, "We commit on donation based on our deep belief in the sacred message behind the act and how it can bring a smile on a patient's face or save the life of an accident victim. We thank DBS for this initiative."
The ceremony, held under the patronage of H E Dr Darwish Saif Said al Maharbi, undersecretary for Health Affairs in MoH, also witnessed a showcase of music, paintings and poems created on the theme of blood donation as was being observed.
