Al Hassan Group supports Omani Students Society of Victoria (OSSV) (21 Jan 2014)

In line with its commitment to support initiatives that have a positive impact on the community and environment, the Al Hassan Group recently announced its support to Omani Students Society of Victoria (OSSV).

Australia is a popular destination for Omani students pursuing higher studies as there are over 400 Omani students studying in different universities all over Australia. Omani students in Australia are encouraged to engage actively both in Australian and Omani communities therefore during the universities summer break, OSSV organises a series of events that further the cause of the society and environment, which Al Hassan wholeheartedly supports.

The first among the series was a beach cleaning awareness campaign titled 'Save Our Shores' that was held on Saturday the 18th January 2014 in Muntazah Al-Athaiba. Over 200 participants, from all age groups, joined the students in their efforts to clean the beach and spread awareness on the importance of environmental conservation and take responsibility for the cleanliness of our beaches. Cigarettes, food wrappers, skewers, cans etc litter Oman's naturally beautiful beaches causing unpleasant scenes and also affecting the marine life, therefore this event was organized to promote the cause of conservation of the beaches as natural habitats of marine life.

The event saw an enthusiastic turnout by Al Hassan’s employees who came together to clean up a wide section of the beach along with other volunteers for over 2 hours.

Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Ali Maqbool, Director, Al Hassan Manufacturing & Trading division said’ "We are very happy to support OSSV's initiatives as they not only concentrate in furthering the cause of Omani students in Australia but also work towards contributing meaningfully to the Omani society. We wish them all the very best for future endeavors."
