Oman's first woman explorer to Antarctica shares her experience with Al Hassan Group (12 April 2012)

Ms Zeena al Towayya, who recently became the first Omani woman to set foot on Antarctica as part of the International Antarctic Expedition (IAE) 2041 addressed the members of the Energy Conservation Group at Al Hassan on 11 April 2012. Ms Zeena was accompanied by Bader Al Rahbi and Ali Al Easry, the first two Omani men to go to the Antarctic.

Oman is well known for its beautiful shoreline and pristine beaches. Keeping the nation’s beaches spotless is a responsibility that has to be taken up by every citizen of the country. Recently, a group of Al Hassan Group staff from Head Office as well as Barka-3 Power Plant Project site undertook to do just this, and they set about cleaning the beach at Barka. An enthusiastic crowd reached the spot and began the job of picking up plastic bags and garbage and cleaned up the beach. They also placed the dust bins at various locations on the beach. The Al Hassan staff were assisted by the local community as well as officials of Barka Municipality.

The Asian Beach Games were established by the Olympic Council of Asia, and are held every two years. The 2010 Muscat Asian Beach Games will be the second event, scheduled to be held in December 2010.
